For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.  For by one spirit we were all baptized into one body . . . Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. – 1 Corinthians 12:12, 27

In obedience to Christ’s call to show God’s presence in love, our churches
recognize one another as members of the greater Body of Christ and
commit ourselves in a Covenant of Witness to the work of the Gospel. We
do this in order to bring the Good News of God’s love to all people and
reaching out in Christ’s name to heal our society and its people.

We covenant to pray for each other’s congregation and unique ministries.
We recognize each other’s sacraments of Baptism and Communion as ways
through which we seek to be faithful to the Lordship of Christ. We
covenant to witness to the presence of Christ’s spirit in worship,
celebrating the common faith that binds us together as the Body of Christ.

We covenant to respect each others history, tradition, beliefs and
denominational relationships which give us identity and offer us unique
ways of mission. Our covenant is enriched by each congregation’s on-
going relationships with other members of the Body of Christ. This
witness is open to other congregations who choose to enter this covenant.

We make this Covenant of Witness in the wonder of God’s grace which has
been manifest among us in unmistakable ways. We feel that the signs of
Grace have called us to a more intentional relationship as churches in our

We will celebrate and renew this covenant annually.
